A return to Racoon City

Resident Evil Requiem marks the 9th mainline entry in Capcom’s legendary survival horror franchise, Resident Evil. This premium adventure-horror game blends cinematic visuals with a return to the series’ terrifying roots. Players can expect an even more immersive experience than predecessors, with tension and atmosphere that pull you straight into the nightmare.

In Resident Evil Requiem, players will step into the shoes of Grace Ashcroft, a new protagonist tied to Resident Evil’s deeper lore, and unravel a haunting mystery set in the ruins of Raccoon City. Iconic agent Leon S. Kennedy joins the story, and their paths cross in ways that create intense, emotional encounters.

Scared to the nines

At the heart of Resident Evil Requiem lies its chilling narrative. Grace Ashcroft, an FBI technical analyst and daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak, becomes entangled in a series of grisly deaths tied to her family’s past. This leads her to the Remwood Hotel, a decrepit location that embodies claustrophobic tension, and later back to Raccoon City itself.

Years after surviving the outbreak that devastated the city, Leon S. Kennedy now operates as a DSO agent fighting bioterror threats. A new chain of mysterious deaths draws him back into an investigation that feels disturbingly familiar. As clues surface, the past begins to overlap with the present, forcing him to confront his nightmares once again. What begins as another operation soon becomes a personal reckoning.

Capcom has chosen to combine the best of its past two installments by offering the ability to switch seamlessly between first-person and third-person views. The gameplay emphasizes survival horror fundamentals: resource management, puzzle-solving, and heart-stopping encounters with stalking enemies. However, it occasionally leans heavily on established formulas, which may feel overly familiar to long-time fans and lessen the sense of surprise. Moreover, the experience remains largely linear in structure.

A chilling return to horror

Resident Evil Requiem embraces the series’ legacy with a gripping narrative, eerie environments, and gameplay that balances survival horror fundamentals with modern mechanics. The seamless perspective-switching adds variety, while Grace Ashcroft’s story enriches the lore. Although its linear structure and familiar gameplay may limit innovation, its atmospheric design and strong connection to Resident Evil’s roots make it a thrilling experience for both longtime fans and newcomers.
